despite the exhaustion, i found time to set up a small sweet potato, to grow slips for planting in the summer, which seems a bit far away, but i’d like to give myself some time for mistakes (one tip for growing sweet potato slip is that if nothing seems to protude out of the potato, flip it over).
i’ve been obsessed with growing sweet potatoes since i read This Organic Life: Confessions of a Suburban Homesteader and since we have the room and sweet potatoes grow well (along with okra and tomatoes) in the south, i figured it’d be worth a try. I did grow slips earlier this year, but it was a little late for planting, and the current sweet potato plant is yellowing in the cold mudroom.
if nothing else at least something other than I and my dog will take advantage of that winter light. 🙂
