November 13: Biking!

autumn biking at its finest

Dear Reader,

Despite falling asleep yesterday and waking up at 2-3 am to brush our teeth, we managed to make it to Bloody Bike and Brunch. It sounds like a zombie Apocalypse, but it’s just a 25 mile bike ride and brunch afterwards. The only reason it’s called bloody is because there are bloody marys involved…mmmm.

It was such a beautiful day for a bike ride. Fall is at its peak color here, though some trees have already lost their leaves, and it was slightly windy out, so we had anime-like leaves falling gently on us as we rode past. Actually, we were ducking the leaves because they kind of itch when they get 1) under your helmet and 2) in your eye (ow). But it was really that tranquil and nice- I don’t know how many of us were there, but there were probably more than 25+ riders, which made it enough people to block traffic/force them to pay attention to us.

the sun shines on cyclists.

We accidentally took the wrong turn and ended up biking 17.5? miles instead of 25, but I don’t think any of us minded too much. It was getting rather windy and cloudy and chillier then. Brunch was absolutely great- a bloody mary (virgin) is really good for a post-ride drink because it’s got salt for replenishment.

I may have taken a nap when we got back, and I can sense another one coming up, so I’m going to post this now when I’m still awake 🙂

More photos of the ride here.

Til then,
Eunice
